Amy Wallen reviews the Field Guide...

...in this month's issue of The Writer Magazine. She concludes that "The variety of topics, perspectives, and instructions from the authors here demonstrates that flash fiction is blessed with an array of species. This field guide will prove useful for identifying the elusive flash-fiction bird by its subtle yet surprising plumage."

Thanks, Amy!

Adam Golaski gets stalked by a bibliophile...

...or rather, gets interviewed by Charles Tan over at Bibliophile Stalker.

Highlights include the part where he says he thinks we're publishing his latest book Color Plates--which "is a museum, alive in the now crystallized brain of a sort-of Mary Cassatt. Four rooms of Mary's museum are open to the public, and they are named Éduoard Manet, Edgar Degas, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Mary Cassatt. Each room exhibits little stories--plates--drawn from real paintings by the painters who are the rooms' namesakes"--on a dare. We dare you to check out the whole thing here. And to keep an eye out for Color Plates when it comes out next year.

John Madera says on the Open Letters Monthly blog...

...that "while [Sean] Lovelace is a trickster and a jokester, he’s also empathetic, for even when his stories pirouette, go pyrotechnic, and slip the stream, he goes beneath the surfaces of things and finds as much gold as he does mud, lava, and earthworms." We agree. Be sure to read the rest of the review here. Thanks, John, and thanks Open Letters Monthly!

Matt Bell reviews The Rose Metal Press Field Guide...

...on The Critical Flame.

"Taken as a whole, The Rose Metal Field Guide to Writing Flash Fiction is an excellent starting place for the study of writing short short stories. For teachers of the genre and for writers still learning the form, The Rose Metal Field Guide to Writing Flash Fiction will certainly satisfy, and perhaps become an indispensable desktop companion for some time. For more established writers, there's still plenty to be inspired by here, and I'm not sure that there is anyone so far along on their writerly journey as to completely disregard this concise volume," he says. Check out the whole review here. Thanks, Matt!
