CALL FOR CONTEST SUBMISSIONS: Rose Metal Press seeks entries to its First Annual Short Short Chapbook Contest

We will soon be seeking submissions to our First Annual Short Short Chapbook Contest. We are defining short short fiction here as stories of under 1000 words. Submitted manuscripts should be 25-40 pages.

Hard copies of manuscripts will be required. Please do not send chapbook entries by email. Please send manuscripts, with cover letter and contact details, to:

ROSE METAL PRESS
P.O. BOX 1956
BROOKLINE, MA 02446

The submission period opens on October 1 and closes on December 1. Manuscripts may include material previously published in journals and anthologies, as long as this is acknowledged. Also, to ensure fair and anonymous judging, please include your name and information only on the title sheet, and not within the ms itself.

Ron Carlson will judge.

The winning author will have their chapbook published by Rose Metal Press, with a foreword by Ron Carlson. They will also receive 10 author copies of the chapbook. The rights to the stories will revert to the author, and the stories may be included in future, full-length books by the author, as long as Rose Metal Press is acknowledged as a place of previous publication.

Please include a $10 entry fee with checks made payable to Rose Metal Press.

Please query us at rosemetalpress at gmail dot com if you have any questions.

If no suitable manuscript is found, RMP reserves the right to refrain from picking a winner.

NEW CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Rose Metal Press seeks novels-in-verse and linked narrative collections

We are currently seeking submissions of novels-in-verse and linked narrative poetry collections to be published in 2007.

The deadline for manuscripts is September 30, 2006 , and submissions may be emailed, beginning now, to rosemetalpress at gmail dot com. Since the genre is such a flexible one, we are not insisting on a page limit, and will consider multiple submissions by the same author.

If you are unsure whether your ms qualifies as a novel-in-verse or a linked narrative collection, please query us at the above email address.

Some examples of novels-in-verse/linked narrative collections include Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson, The Emperor's Babe by Bernardine Evaristo, Skygirl by Rosemary Griggs, and Madoc: a Mystery by Paul Muldoon.

If no suitable manuscript is found, RMP reserves the right to refrain from publishing a collection.

There is no entry fee.
